Physical Analysis

Coffee Intelligence provides various forms of physical testing to ensure your meeting your customers quality standards and providing them a level of consistency.  We can test for the following physical tests:

Coffee Density Testing - coffee density can have significant effects on how green coffee is transformed during the roasting process. Factors including such as growing conditions, soil, processing and coffee species have an overall impact on coffee density. Our testing protocol can determine density for both green and roasted coffee.

Moisture Analysis - proper processing of green coffee leave coffee beans with a specific range of moisture, in relation to the type of post-harvest processing used. If moisture levels are higher than usual, it can pose significant danger not only to quality, but also to health, since carcinogenic molds such as Aflatoxin A/B can develop within the bean itself.

Screen Size Determination - various clients such as those in Europe and Japan have strict requirements on bean importation size. Our testing service can ensure that you are meeting any clients requirements and ultimate market needs.

Laser Particle Size Determination - using advances in laser technology, we can accurately determine your operations grind consistency. Improper particle size can allow for the extraction of undesirable compounds during the brewing process, producing a finished product with inconsistent flavor and strenght.

Green Coffee Defect Grading  - need to determine if your lot of coffee is "specialty" grade? Using industry based classification systems, we are able to determine if your coffee indeed meets industry standards and demand the price your supplier is asking.

Colormetric Analysis - roast level plays a critical role in determining  the final flavor profile of coffee. Using infrared technology, we can accurately determine your coffee's roast level using industry based standards.
